To get a new Entries sheet in Chartroom use the Entries menu > New entries sheet. Enter the name of your event and Chartroom will create the new sheet with the name Your Event Entries. This will become the active sheet. An Entries sheet's name must always end with " Entries".
Due to a quirk in Google Sheets you may have to horizontally scroll the list of sheets at the bottom of the screen.
As with all Chartroom sheets Row 1 is reserved for system data and is hidden from view.
Row 2 contains column headings #, Id (hidden), Club or org, and Team.
If your entries are just clubs or organisations put them in the Team column. You can always shift them later.
Select Chartroom > Entries > Get random entries. You will be prompted to enter a number and an optional letter, e.g. 25s
for 25 singles players. Other options are p
for pairs, t
for triples, and f
for fours.
This will overwrite any existing entries on the sheet.
Most events have policy, like the number of rounds to be played and the number of wins required to qualify. Chartroom also has options to control the draw and how you want your groups to look if you have more than 1.
Policy can be found in the Settings sidebar, accessible from the Chartroom menu.
There are separate areas for Pool policy, Lives policy, Scoring and Advanced. These are covered in more detail later on.
You can set all the policy pertaining to your event on the Entries sheet and it will be carried forward to Pool play and/or Lives play.
If your event begins with pool play click Initialise pool play on the Entries menu. Chartroom performs the draw and creates the new sheet in accordance with the Pool policy.
Your event is now ready to go and you can hide the entries sheet if you like.
If your event begins with lives play click Initialise lives play on the Entries menu. Chartroom performs the draw and creates the new sheet in accordance with the Lives policy.
Your event is now ready to go and you can hide the entries sheet if you like.
To manage multiple events that share the same policy separate their entries with a blank row.
For example you can have men's and women's entries on the same sheet and initialise them together.
This works best if groupsOf is set so that each event has a single pool.
To ignore an entry specify n/a or no entry in the Team column.
